The progestogen-only contraceptive pill (POP), also sometimes known as the ‘mini-pill’ is now more widely available. Lovima and Hana can be bought from a pharmacist without the need for an appointment with a GP or at a sexual health clinic. You can also order these from Dr Fox alongside other POPs Cerelle or Cerazette and get up to 12 months at a time. All these pills are medically the same, consisting of 75 micrograms of the progestogen desogestrel.
Progestogen-only pills may have fewer side effects compared to the combined contraceptive pill, but there are also many other benefits.
Every medication supplied in the UK goes through a strict process of development and monitoring to ensure it is effective and safe. Once it has passed clinical trials the drug manufacturer can apply for a licence. This licence is only for the problems that it has been used for in the trial and shown to be effective for. All medicines used in the UK must have a licence before being issued to patients. This is done by the Medicines & Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) in the UK.
Dr Fox prices remain up to 50% less than other clinics
Dr Fox regularly price checks frequently ordered medicines with other leading online pharmacies and consistently finds evidence to support our claims. In some cases our prices are less than 50% of other clinics.
Price comparison tables are displayed on popular treatment pages, and below are selected examples of treatment most often requested.
Price comparisons: May 2022
Prices listed above include prescription fee. Prices checked 05 May 2022. Delivery fees not included.
We have compared UK regulated online pharmacies and online doctors only. UK regulations ensure patient safety and licenced medicine only is supplied.
Delivery fee is not included in table above. Some providers offer free collection in-store option. Dr Fox posts treatment by Royal Mail Tracked 24 for £2.90.
Dr Fox can now supply Ventolin Accuhaler – a dry powder breath-actuated salbutamol inhaler (£8.95).
A dry powder inhalation device means there is no need for aerosols, which can be harmful to the environment. Non-aerosol inhalers have a significantly lower carbon footprint. Changing to this type of inhaler reduces greenhouse gas emissions and has 30 times the environmental impact of planting a tree.
Additional irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) medications are now available from Dr Fox. Most work by relaxing the muscles in the bowel wall, reducing bowel spasm and so relieving the symptoms of bloating, abdominal pain, wind, and diarrhoea caused by IBS.
Irritable bowel syndrome is the most common intestinal upset, affecting 1-2 in every 10 people. IBS is not dangerous in any way, but it can be uncomfortable, unpleasant, and distressing.

Migraine is common in the UK, affecting about 1 in 4 women and 1 in 12 men. Triptans have been used by millions of people throughout the world for decades and are generally considered safe drugs. Triptan medication is for people under 65, who have been diagnosed with migraine, not for other types of headaches.
People experiencing frequent migraines may benefit from preventative treatments. If suffering more than one migraine per week, see your GP to discuss preventative treatment.
February 2019: Public Health England’s antimicrobial prescribing guidance no longer recommends fluoroquinolones (ciprofloxacin) for standby treatment of travellers’ diarrhoea, due to increasing resistance to these antibiotics in some parts of the world.
National Institute of Health and Care Excellence (NICE) and Public Health England recommends standby azithromycin for patients at high risk of severe illness should they develop travellers’ diarrhoea or those visiting high-risk areas.
As a result Dr Fox has withdrawn supply of ciprofloxacin for travellers’ diarrhoea, and provides the recommended alternative azithromycin only.
Actavis UK & Ireland rebranded to become Accord Healthcare in 2017, and has now discontinued Actavis Aindeem branded generic finasteride 1mg (packs of 28 and 84 tablets). This has had a knock-on effect on UK supplies of other finasteride 1mg brands, as not all manufacturers offer the 84-tablet pack size, creating further demand on the smaller 28-tablet pack sizes.
The new EU Falsified Medicines Directive is also now in effect (February 2019) and the new packaging requirements has also contributed to production delays.
